Troll in the Corner

About

Hello and welcome to the Troll in the Corner!

Our aim is to provide a fun, vibrant community for folks like us.  Who are we you might ask?

We’re gamers.  We love RPGs, board games, video games, CCGs, dice games, games where you juggle live hedgehogs.  You name it, we love it.  We’re figuring you do as well or you wouldn’t be here.

We’re comic book readers.  Give us a cover where someone is wearing a cape or a nice example of Onomatopoeia and we’re in heaven.  Who needs sunlight when there are stacks to read, sort and box up?

We’re SF/F fans.  Elves and of course Trolls rock.  Give them a beam weapon and the ability to hack SSL certs on a distributed network of proto-AIs and we’re talking good times.

Recently TC has taken an interest in independent (and I guess dependent) films.  There’s a whole world of interesting short and feature length films out there that don’t necessarily play in the megaplexes.  Huge Hollywood productions have their appeals but smaller films have people who will talk to the likes of us.

Please, make yourself at home, loosen up and be who you really are while you spend time in this community.  We’re all a little different and we ask that you accept these differences rather than harp on them so that we can all feel free to indulge in our love of gaming.   Want more specifics on who we are?

Owner/Editor in ChiefBen:  I’m a geek. A nerd, a dweeb, whatever. Yes I owned garb, yes I still own medieval weaponry. And yeah, I could kick your butt in Mechwarrior the CCG. I love video games, role playing games, tactical board games and all forms of speculative fiction. I will never berate someone for wanting to be a Jedi and take everything Gary Gygax ever wrote as gospel. Well, all of this but that last bit.

EditorJoe:  I’m patiently waiting for the future. I want to sail on the sea of stars, I want to get into a bar fight with a Cephelopod buddy fighting at my side. I want to believe in a good blaster by my side. I want to be just like Captain Harlock when I grow up. I might also be in the market for some rental time with Doc Brown’s DeLorean or any functional time machine, so if you can help me out, I’d appreciate it.

EditorKen:  I’m a maker geek, computer modder, personal electric vehicle designer, homesteader, and cyberpunk. Gibson is good, but Stephenson has the vision and Snow Crash/Diamond Age are the clearest versions of the future I have seen yet. Knowledge is doubling every 18 months. As the rate of change increases the technology singularity approaches and our ability to predict the future utterly fails. What unimaginable future awaits us? This is a fascinating time to be alive.

EditorJared:  I’m a Trekker, a Brown-coat, a bibliophile, a Star Wars nut. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Steampunk, mythology, anime, noir, detective stories it doesn’t matter. I’m into pen and paper rpgs, console and pc games, board games. Want to argue for hours over who would win were the Enterprise-E and a Star Destroyer fight? Sure. Want to debate the advantages of the Way of the Open Palm or the Light Side? Definitely.

EditorHistrel: Wife, mother, web designer and writer born and bred in the UK. I’m a bit of a rock hen (not young enough to be a chick) who enjoys killing aliens, building civilizations or playing with my Sack-Girl. I have a long-time passion for sci-fi/fantasy books, tv and films.

VizierScott:  I’ve been roleplaying for over 24 years as a player and GM both. I cut my teeth on D&D, moved to Twilight:2000 and Palladium FRPG among others. I now play in a Savage World of Solomon Kane campaign, and hope to run a Twilight:2013 campaign sometime soon.
